THE FOUNDATION OF THE HUNGARIAN SOCIETY FOR MICROBIOLOGY
DYNEA SCIENTIFIC ADVANCED LEVEL AWARD
The Foundation of the Hungarian Society for Microbiology (FHSM) announces a competition for the lead author(s) of scientific publications, patents or other innovative achievements that present significant scientific results/innovations in the field of environmental sustainability microbiology. Applications may be submitted for works published in final form after January 1, 2015 (e.g., scientific articles, domestic or international patents) with a separate printout and a presentation of the scientific and innovative activities as well as the socio-economic and environmental impact of the currently active applicant(s)
One Dynea Scientific Advanced Level Award may be awarded each year. The winner will receive a diploma of honor and a prize of €4,000. A person or work group may only win the award once.
The award is made possible by a cooperation and support agreement between Dynea Hungary Ltd. and the FHSM. Its aim is to support the creation, communication, and teaching of scientific results in the field of environmental and ecological sustainability (including the elimination of soil and groundwater pollution) and the circular economy. The aim of the award founders is to recognize and promote internationally known and recognized professionals and innovations that carry out out outstanding research, development, and innovation activities in the field of the award, enhance the innovative effectiveness of their workplace, and create new knowledge that is utilised effectively.
Entries should be submitted electronically by completing and uploading the application form available below. The application should include the name and place of birth of the applicant(s), their place of work and address, position, contact details (telephone, email and [home] postal address), qualifications, field of science/specialization, scientific qualifications and titles, professional awards, summary data on their publication and innovation activities, any microbiological society memberships and scientific publication record (e.g. Altmetric, Google Scholar) contact details, the doi (or other) link to the publication, and a short text summary of the content of the publication, covering sustainability, microbiological results related to the circular economy and their utilization (max. 4,000 characters). The publication's uploaded PDF file and your signed, uploaded professional CV must also be provided as well as any other information to be disclosed (e.g., shared first/lead authorship, research group application; max. 1,000 characters) and a letter of recommendation signed by a recognized colleague, uploaded in PDF format.
The application must be accompanied by a short, easy-to-understand description of the paper/innovation (500-1,000 characters) with an eye-catching illustration or several photos. The abstract alone is not acceptable. By submitting an application, the applicant agrees that if their announcement is awarded the prize, its summary will be published on the HSM website under the menu item „The World of Microbiology”. The application must convincingly demonstrate the legal validity of the material to be uploaded to the website.
When finalizing the submission, the applicant(s) must confirm that the data is complete and accurate, agree to the application being made available to those involved in the process, and provide consent for the processing of their personal data in accordance with the GDPR.
Deadline for submission, uploading, and electronic closure is August 31, 2025, at midnight (Hungarian time). Applicants will receive electronic confirmation of receipt of their application within 10 working days. Based on a preliminary review of the applications received, the founder (FHSM) reserves the right to request additional information within a deadline of five working days.
Applications will be evaluated by a jury composed of members of the Board of Trustees of the FHSM and the Executive Committee/Presidium of the HSM, taking into account any conflicts of interest (applying, mutatis mutandis, the recommendations/requirements of the University of Oxford).
Applicants and recommenders will receive electronic notification of the results of the competition within 30 working days of the jury's completion of its work.
The jury's decision is final and cannot be appealed.
The main criteria for awarding (evaluating) the Dynea Scientific Advanced Level Award are:
- the overall scientific merit of the work presented,
- the value of the microbiological scientific results presented in relation to environmental and ecological sustainability and the circular economy,
- the scientometric indicators of the journal,
- the applicant's publication performance,
- the value of the applicant's creative, knowledge-generating spirit,
- the domestic and international recognition of the applicant's professional activities,
- the environmental, economic, and social effectiveness of the applicant's innovative activities,
- it is an advantage if the results of the application were mostly generated in Hungary,
- Hungarian and European applicants are given preference.
The results of the competition will be announced at a ceremony at the 2026 Spring General Assembly of the HSM, in the presence of the founders of the award. The name of the winner and the reasons for awarding the prize will be made public in the media after the award ceremony. At the award ceremony, the winner will give a 30-minute professional presentation on their work and its environmental, social, and economic impact. The winning work, the URL of the Publication/innovation, and the jury's reasoning will also be published on the HSM / FHSM website. The prize money will be paid by bank transfer in euros based on a scholarship agreement with the FHSM.
The legal basis for the processing of personal data is Act CLXXV of 2011 on the right of association, public benefit status, and the operation and support of civil organizations, and the fact that the FHSM is a registered public benefit organization operating under this Act.
